Effects of Urbanization on Extreme Climate Indices in the Valley of Mexico Basin

This study analyzes 50 annual climate change indices related to temperature and precipitation in the Valley of Mexico basin for period 1951–2010. First, a quality homogenization analysis 90 weather stations (categorized as urban, suburban, rural) was performed using Climatol algorithm. The non-parametric Mann–Kendall test Sen’s slope method were applied determine existence trend estimate magnitude extreme indices, respectively. To eliminate serial correlation problem, lag-1 Patakamuri tests used. Statistically significant positive trends found SU, TMm, TNm, TNn, TX90p, WSDI, well negative ones FD, TX10p, TN10p, CSDI, HDDheat18. results seem support an influence anthropogenic global warming on region, rather than local effects urbanization. However, it is likely that some differences urban rate could be due effects, such difference land cover occurs between rural stations.
